Having previously worked with metal processing, Stig had been involved in the development of chairs, bicycles, and strollers. The main idea was to create a piece of furniture that would fulfill a real need.
Stig Leander had a unique vision—designing a cradle that combined aesthetics with functionality.
In less than a year, the first series of the Leander Classic™ cradle became available in stores across Denmark. Today, Leander exports to more than 30 countries. Product development, administration, storage, and offices are located in Silkeborg, Denmark, while production takes place in long-term partnerships with factories across various parts of Europe.
PURPOSE
The design of the Leander Classic™ cradle was created with the goal of solving a specific problem and making a difference. These characteristics also define the brand established by Stig Leander.
Leander is a furniture company with a core idea: to create furniture pieces that inspire and encourage play, movement, and creativity. Their furniture supports children's development and makes everyday life more enjoyable.
Leander believes in functionality and design while using environmentally safe materials. Every idea starts with a need.
The Leander brand remains true to its founding concept—form, functionality, and the principle that furniture should adapt to children's needs, not the other way around. That is why Leander is not just a furniture company; it represents a way of life, a feeling, and an attitude toward materials, function, and form.
QUALITY, DETAILS, AND SUSTAINABILITY
Stig Leander is the designer behind all Leander furniture pieces. He does not draw—he dreams and senses. He does not use a computer. As an artist, he shapes furniture using his hands and eyes. He creates using cardboard, glue, and wood until the piece is perfected.
Stig has an incredible eye for design and functionality. With a passion for craftsmanship and curiosity, he explores the materials he works with and sees more opportunities than limitations.
When Stig is in his design workshop, he always envisions the child or adult who will use the furniture. The need must be met.
